Catskills-style Adams Dry Flies
Couldn't load pickup availability
There has never been a more famous dry fly than the Adams, and for good reason — since 1922 it has fooled trout on every continent where they swim. These Catskills-style ties honor the original: a perfect blend of Whiting grizzly and coachman-brown saddle hackle over a gray dubbed body, creating that mottled, buggy silhouette trout can't resist.
The Adams works because it imitates everything at once. In sizes 14 and 16 it passes for Hendricksons, March Browns, Blue-Winged Olives, and a dozen other mayflies — which is exactly why it was the pattern of the Catskills legends who fished water where hatches overlapped daily. When trout are rising and you can't quite match the hatch, the Adams is the answer more often than not.
Available in both sizes so you can match the naturals or fish the 16 as a general searching pattern. Dead-drift it on 5X or 6X through riffles, pool heads, and foam lines. Every dry-fly box ever assembled has started here.
