Size 18 PMD Nymph

Pale Morning Duns are the hatch that makes summer mornings worth setting an alarm for — and the hours before the duns appear belong to the nymph. This size 18 follows a proven Fly Fish Food recipe: a dark, realistic body set off by a yellow hot spot that gives selective trout exactly the trigger they need to commit.

It's tied on a barbless jigged hook, so it rides point-up along the bottom — fewer snags, more hookups. Coq de leon tail fibers add lifelike movement, and a light coat of UV resin over the body gives it the segmented sheen of the naturals while standing up to a full day of toothy abuse.

Fish it as your point fly in a Euro nymphing rig or under an indicator during late-morning PMD activity, typically from late June through August depending on your water. When the hatch is building and fish are feeding subsurface, this is the fly that turns "good drift" into a bent rod.
